Koronaios: He’s trying to get the rematch before the vaccine: hard lock on West Attica, six areas in red

[ad_1]

Greece returned to the bitter reality of the coronavirus on Tuesday, after the Christmas holidays, when, of course, few tests were done and therefore small numbers of cases were announced, four digits of new infections were recorded by the deadly virus. .

In fact, today’s 1,047 cases occurred after nine consecutive days with a triple-digit number of new infections.

The return to harsh reality became even more noticeable a little later, when during the briefing the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, announced the extension of the harsh confinement for the Municipalities of Aspropyrgos and Elefsina in West Attica, as well as for the Municipalities of Kozani, Eordaia and Voio of the Kozani Regional Unit, until Wednesday, January 6 at 6:00 in the morning.

Six threatened areas

In fact, in addition to the areas in which the strict confinement extends, Mr. Hardalias “showed” which areas are expected to continue if his epidemiological situation does not improve in the coming days. As he said, these are areas that are closely monitored due to their epidemiological burden, which requires compliance with protection measures.

The epidemiological burden seems to persist in the Florina Peripheral Unit, in the municipalities of Keratsini-Drapetsona, Peristeri, Ilio and Acharnes, as well as in the Zefyri area of the municipality of Fili. At the same time, the epidemic is emerging intensely on the island of Kalymnos, as you mentioned.

Extension of the strict blockade in West Attica and Kozani

Specifically regarding the Municipalities of Aspropyrgos and Elefsina, Mr. Hardalias pointed out that the epidemiological panorama of these areas was evaluated today at a meeting of the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against the Covid-19 coronavirus and the decision to extend the restrictive measures it was based entirely on and especially on the fact that the number of active cases in these areas remains high.

However, as mentioned by Mr. Hardalias, the number of cases fortunately does not show an increase like last week, but a marginal decrease.

More specifically, on December 17 (day of the beginning of the additional restrictive measures) in the Municipality of Aspropyrgos there were 166 active cases, in the Municipality of Elefsina 165 active cases, while today the number of active cases is still high since they are 95 and 53 respectively while Rt in the wider area remains close to 1.

In the case of the Municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia, it was unanimously decided to lift the additional measures since active cases have decreased from 30 that was on December 17 to 14 today.

Indices in the municipalities of Kozani, Eordaia and Voio are at high levels

Likewise, with respect to the Peripheral Unit of Kozani, and specifically in the Municipalities of Kozani, Eordea and Voio, the epidemiological burden and all indicators in the region remain high, despite the small reduction in active cases.

Kozani Municipality currently has 96 active cases when it had 152 about a week ago, Eordea Municipality has 73 active cases out of 115 it had on December 23, and Voio Municipality 34 out of 35 cases on December 23.

“Many of these cases are new and that worries us and was one of the criteria that led to the extension of the measures,” said Mr. Hardalias.

At the same time, however, it was unanimously decided to lift the measures for the municipalities of Serbia and Velvento, since in these municipalities the number of active cases has been reduced to 2 and 3 respectively, without new cases having been registered in the last week.

What was decided for the people of Kelli

In addition, the additional restrictive measures are valid as of tomorrow at 6 in the morning and for ten days in the town of Kelli of the Municipality of Amyntaio of PE Florina due to the intense epidemiological burden observed in the area.

Specifically with a unanimous proposal from the committee but also a proposal from the Governor of West Macedonia the following measures were decided:

  • Prohibition of movement outside the town, except for health reasons.
  • From 6 pm to 5:00 am the next day, prohibition of any movement of citizens within the village.
  • Suspension of religious ceremonies
  • Store suspension (retail, click away, etc.).

Regarding the local unit of Thespies of the Municipality of Aliartos-Thespies of PE Beocia, the situation seems to be improving, while according to Hardalias all active cases and their close contacts have been sealed while waiting tomorrow for the decision to extend or expire the measures Additional due Thursday morning.

Areas of concern

At the same time, it is not ruled out that other areas will follow, which are currently in the “eye” of the coronavirus.

Mr. Hardalias referred to these areas that are problematic and are in the center of epidemiological observation and analysis in the last hours, since they do not seem to follow the average reduction of the epidemiological burden observed in most of the country.

The epidemiological burden seems to persist in the Peripheral Unit of Florina, in the Municipalities of Keratsini-Drapetsona, Peristeri, Ilio and Acharnes in the Zefyri area of the Municipality of Fili, as well as in Kalymnos. At this point, Mr. Hardalias called on everyone, especially the residents of these areas, to be extremely cautious and continue to be consistent in complying with the measures, especially during vacations.

How many cases were identified today in West Attica?

The distribution of cases in the country is interesting. Specifically, as a result of EODY’s announcement today in West Attica, 53 cases were identified.

The only area with more cases was the central sector of Athens with 98 cases.

In addition, Kozani registered 52 cases, while the number of new diagnoses increased in Larissa (50), Evros (37) and Rodopi (30).

“Kampanaki” Majorkini for West Attica

As he characteristically said, the situation is particularly acute in both West Attica and Kozani.

More than 8,000 active cases

At the same time, the alarm bell sounded for a possible relaxation, Vana Papaevangelou, who referred to vaccines, which are expected to bring “Freedom” to our country, something that will take time.

“Full immunity will not be achieved until several more months have passed,” he said, adding that Kozani, Larissa, Rodopi and Evros are in “red.”
