In the last 20 days, Greece has tripled or quadrupled the death rate of COVID-19 carriers compared to countries such as Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria and others that are considered to have been heavily affected by the pandemic, and as mentioned yesterday The Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. Nikos Hardalias, is facing a strong “second wave” of pandemics.
In fact, these countries have a particularly high number of daily cases, sometimes equal to the deadly first phase of the pandemic last spring.
However, the number of deaths is now proportionally much lower than that of Greece and 70-90% less than one million in the March-May period.
Thus, the “curve” for coronavirus victims has become straight in contrast to Greece, which shows significant growth trends. This is partly due to the large amount of testing that has been done and the fact that there is now better protection for vulnerable groups.
At the same time, the percentage of “orphaned” cases is increasing daily at a rate of more than 60%, as follow-up remains problematic in Attica, where a growing number of cases are accumulating.
At the same time, the increase in cases in the center of Athens (borders of the municipality of Athens) is impressive, where it is said that 40% of the total bodies in Attica are registered, when on May 3 this percentage was only 20 % (314 cases in the center of the capital 1496 in all Attica).
France, therefore, from 1 to 17 September had an inconceivable number of 129,474 cases, that is about 7,616 each day, but the total number of deaths during the same period was 374, that is, about 22 each day.
And this when, with the same number of cases in the March-April period, it had registered 500-1500 deaths daily. In other words, now the death rate in France has dropped to approximately three deaths per 1000 people!
In France, there are around 153,128 tests per 1,000,000 inhabitants, the same happens in other European countries, where the number of cases is impressive, recalls the spectacular increase, but the number of deaths is extremely limited.
Thus, in England, where 301,948 tests have been carried out per million inhabitants (one in three) in the last 17 days, 44,446 cases have been registered, but only 201 deaths, which corresponds to four deaths for every 1000 cases.
Also in Italy during the same period 22,824 cases were registered with 154 deaths, which means that around six people die for every 1000 cases.
In Germany, from September 1 to September 17, 23,041 new carriers of the virus have been identified and the death toll is only 76, that is, about three deaths per 1,000 cases.
In Austria, mentioned yesterday by Mr. Hardalias, the mortality rate is again three deaths in patients with Covid-19.
By contrast, in Greece since the beginning of the month 3,876 cases and 54 deaths occurred, which corresponds to a percentage of 14 deaths per 1,000 carriers of the virus.
Relatively close to the percentages for Greece is Spain, where there are now around 7,000 daily cases with 73 deaths per day on average. Something that corresponds to 10 deaths per 1000 cases.
