Only … on paper it seems that there is a blockade in the country, since since Wednesday afternoon the traffic in the streets of Athens recalls the times … before the quarantine and, certainly, the times when there were no restrictive measures to prevent the spread of the deadly pandemic.
Specifically, there was particularly high traffic throughout the day at Kifissos, with the “paralyzing” descent at intervals from Kifissia to New Philadelphia. In fact, before Poseidon’s departure, there was a car accident, from Durres to Liosia, something that did not help the situation to improve.
At the same time, on the ascent of Kifissos, the vehicles were moving at very slow speeds.
Downtown Athens “sank”
Additional traffic confusion is observed in the streets around the center of Athens (Stadiou, Vasilissis Sofias, rise of Vassileos Konstantinou to the Concert Hall), rise and fall of Kifissia.
At the same time, heavy traffic is observed on Poseidonos Avenue, going up and down from the height of the Metropolitano to Agia Skepi.
Problems were also identified in the descent of Arditto, in Filolaou as well as in its verticals. There are still problems in the descent of Katehaki to the Mediterranean.
During the longest day in a row, there was a lot of traffic on the main streets of Athens, where pedestrians rushed to walk and admire the decorations.
Overcrowding in Thessaloniki too
A lot of traffic was also observed in Thessaloniki, where citizens, despite the closure, took to the streets.
On the pedestrian street of Ag. Sophia’s move was unprecedented.
People from Thessaloniki went out, some to take pictures, others to do the last shopping before the holidays.
