A new reality dawns from tomorrow until the end of September in Attica, which has been found in the “vortex” of the coronavirus.
Although the government has officially refrained from using the phrase “masks everywhere”, this is more or less understood when the residents of the basin will have to wear masks in all enclosed workplaces, as well as in all meeting places. open (such as squares, stalls). buses, queues at shops, etc.) where the 1.5 meter rule cannot be observed.
According to information, with these measures the government is trying to change its strategy so that the squares become a meeting point for the elderly and not for the young.
Controls will continue and intensify, while fines will fall “rain” where there are crowds. The aim is to discourage young people and not meet in squares, as they did all the previous hours, especially after midnight. 
Regarding the background to the decision on the measures, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, among the suggestions of its associates, also had a 15-day closure in Attica, in order to address the situation in the region where half of the population of Greece.
The government decided that horizontal measures had to be taken, so that we could see in 15 days if they would work or if we would have to move on to others.
The concern of the government and infectious disease specialists is obvious: as Gikas Majorkinis said, the pandemic has shown exceptional resilience despite measures, while in Greece urban centers have become breeding grounds for the virus.
Regarding the current situation in the country, Mr. Hardalias stated that there are 4,089 active cases, which are isolated along with their contacts, of which 1,829 in Attica.
These measures were considered necessary, since based on the epidemiological risk criteria Attica is currently between a moderate and high risk level, that is, according to laboratory findings it shows cases of 3 / 100,000 (moderate risk level) – but with a reduction x10 it reaches the high risk level – and an additional additional load on ICU beds (> 60% with increasing trends).
Indicative of the critical situation in which Attica finds itself, is the fact that on Tuesday 197 cases were detected in it, that is, almost 2/3 of the 310 new cases that were announced in total.
The six horizontal meters for Attica
Specifically, from Wednesday, September 16 to Wednesday, September 30, the following restrictive measures are applied in the Attica region:
one) Concerts: Limit 50% of fullness in open spaces, the use of mask, alcohol and smoking is prohibited
two) Catering service centers with live music: Suspension for 14 days
3) Summer and indoor cinemas and theaters: Occupancy limit of 60% and mandatory use of a mask at the entrance and exit of spectators, as well as during the performance.
4) Mandatory use of a mask in all closed workplaces (public and private), as well as in open spaces where there are meetings (for example, squares, bus stops, queues in shops, marches – demonstrations, political party events) where it cannot be observed the distance rule 1.5 meters.
- There is a strong recommendation for the use of masks in all other open spaces by all citizens.

It is recalled that the rule of 50 people remains in force in all meetings, as well as the opening of the retail trade at 10:00 a.m., with the exception of supermarkets, bakeries, grocery stores, etc.
At the same time, there is a strong recommendation for the general use of masks in people over 65 years of age.

- From the beginning of the pandemic on February 25 to September 13, 13,240 cases have been registered in our country, of which 4,089 are active and isolated at home, both those and their close contacts. In addition, 1,573 were discharged from hospitals and 7,273 recovered at home.
- From July 1 (the opening day of our tourism) to September 13, 1,093 cases have been detected at the entrance gates of the country, where 491,980 selective controls have been carried out on a total of 3,827,400 entrants.
The controls
For the execution of the measures that have been imposed, from July 1 to September 13, 280,538 inspections were carried out by the competent bodies, in which 11,233 infractions (4%) were registered and 12,200 fines were imposed for a total of 4,806,940 euros, as well as penalties for suspension of operation for a total of 3,945 days for breach of the people / m2 ratio. and a total of 357 days for non-compliance with the opening hours of shops of health interest in areas with epidemiological burden. 
At the same time, emphasis is placed on the protection of those who belong to vulnerable groups. In this context, until September 14, 56 inspections have been carried out in Units for the Elderly, during which 7 infractions were found and fines were imposed for a total of 36,000 euros.
Especially in areas with strong epidemiological characteristics, additional samplings and non-administrative controls have been carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the EODY in Units for the Elderly, from September 1 to 11, 2,383 additional selective samplings have been carried out in dozens of units of attention 10 Regions of the country.
“The faithful implementation of the above measures will contribute significantly to the evolution of the pandemic, as a large spread of the virus in Attica, we all understand the magnitude of the problem it would create,” said Mr. Hardalias, adding:

310 news items and 3 deaths in the last 24 hours
There was a coronavirus outbreak in the last 24 hours in the country, with 310 new ones, of which 30 are related to known outbreaks and 12 were detected after controls at the entrance doors. At the same time, there were three more deaths, bringing the tragic death toll to 313.
It is observed that the number of cases is the second highest since the start of the pandemic, while it is the third time that it exceeds 300 in the last week.
Specifically, according to an announcement by the National Public Health Organization (EODY), the total number of cases is 13,730, of which 55.4% are men.
Of these, 2,433 (18%) are considered related to trips from abroad and 5,901 (43.1%) are related to an already known case.
67 intubated people
At the same time, there is a large increase in the number of people, which, while in the previous 24 hours amounted to 59, today it is 67.
Their average age is 70 years. Of these, 17 (25.3%) are women and the rest are men. 88.1% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older.
Meanwhile, 175 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
Three more deaths
Finally, we have three more deaths registered and a total of 313 deaths in the country. 116 (37%) are women and the rest are men.
The mean age of our deceased fellow citizens was 78 years and 96.2% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
