“Brother, I may never see you again. We were going to hear footsteps if they too died.”
As long as he waits behind the balcony door, the footsteps of Charalambos, his brother, will never be heard again.
The coronavirus took him away and the only consolation were the photos of two children who grew up hand in hand. Giannis Amarantidis opened his home and heart to LIVE NEWS.
“In 3 days it was full, in 4.5 it left here, in 11.5 we lost it.”
The symptoms
It all started with symptoms that did not resemble a coronavirus in a healthy person.
“He wasn’t sick when he was donating blood. He had no symptoms, his back hurt.”
The visit to the hospital revealed the nightmare. Babis, as they called him, had a coronavirus. The family was forced to quarantine in Kastoria, the patient went by ambulance alone and was left alone.
“It’s a terrible feeling, and that’s why the unfortunates who say there is no coronavirus upset me,” says his brother.
He himself sat in the distance and took off his mask just for this interview, he will say.
“I think this thing saved us here.”
With this farewell in memory of his brother, he will send his own message so that other families do not go through what yours went through.
