Kontonis to be removed – “SYRIZA is a monument to slander and Stalinism”, his reply | POLITICS

The confrontation between SYRIZA and the former Minister of Justice Stavros Kontonis is now frontal, which is aimed at suppression, since in a statement it describes the announcement of the party’s Press Office as a monument to slander and Stalinism.

Earlier, on the occasion of Kontoni’s statements about the changes SYRIZA made to the Penal Code in order to “soften” the sentences of the Chrysaugites, Koumoundourou issued a very harsh statement against the former Minister of Justice.

“The statements of Stavros Kontonis, embracing New Democracy propaganda and fake news, are unacceptable and objectively serve political interests hostile to the left and SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance,” the Office noted in a comment.

According to information from iefimerida.gr, the topic of Stavros Kontonis will be sent to the Members Organization, in which it participates, with the question of deletion. If the organization decides in the affirmative (by a 3/4 majority), the matter is referred to the next higher body.

Kontoni’s statement

Former Minister and MP Stavros Kontonis made the following statement:

“The government’s attempt to link my resignation from the SYRIZA Central Committee with the serious and existing objections that I had and maintain, regarding the way of voting and the content of the provisions of the new Penal Code, is a direct distortion of what I said, according to your usual practice ΝΔ.

RELEVANT ARTICLES

I emphasize for the umpteenth time that my resignation was presented to the president of the party three days ago and is exclusively related to the catastrophic introversion, groupings, internal mechanisms and public reprisals of the party executives before Congress and other serious internal party problems. they form the most negative image of the party and the progressive faction.

In fact, at the moment we are faced with a government that has failed to manage serious social problems.

But I repeat once more that Unacceptable provisions in the new Penal Code, such as the abolition of the accessory penalty of deprivation of civil rights and the conversion of the crime of bribery from a serious crime to a minor crime, they were serious and unacceptable mistakes.

I am glad that I was informed that, at the initiative of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, an amendment will be tabled to restore the repealed provisions and I hope that it will have the support of all democratic parties.

Finally, I return to its editors the announcement of the SYRIZA Press Office, as a monument to slander and Stalinism, and I don’t deserve to comment on it».
