North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made his first appearance in weeks, according to state news agency KCNA, at the opening of a factory near Pyongyang.
“Kim Jong Un has established a fertilizer plant,” was the caption for the report, which was accompanied by photos, but not videos.
“He was present at the ceremony and everyone present greeted him with cheers when he appeared,” said KCNA.
As can be seen from the published images, Kim Jong Un, accompanied by his sister and other dignitaries, was in a good mood and cut a tape, ending rumors that he was dead or seriously ill.
Rumors have circulated in recent weeks about his absence from public affairs, and even now American experts question his health.
The “trusted” official
On Saturday, a former North Korean official said Kim Jong Un was 99% dead.
He is Ji Seong Ho, a North Korean dissident and now elected South Korean legislator who even won a seat on behalf of a small party after the April 15 elections. Speaking to the Yonhap news agency, he said the North Korean leader was probably dead, even announcing announcements over the weekend.
Specifically, he said: “I was wondering how long it could last after cardiovascular surgery. I have been informed that Kim died last weekend. I’m not 100% sure, but I can say the probability is 99%. North Korea faces a complicated succession problem”
Questions about Kim’s health status multiplied when she was absent from the April 15 celebrations. This is the most important day in North Korea’s political calendar, as the entire country celebrates the anniversary of the birth of the founder of the People’s Republic and Kim Jong Un’s grandfather, Kim Il Sung.
