The President of the Republic officially adopted one of the kittens rescued by the Karpathos Animal Welfare Action, Calypso.
The president of the non-profit civil organization Animal Welfare Karpathos – Animal Welfare Action of Karpathos, Sofia Chiras-Mikrou, met Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace, where she gladly presented her with the Calypso!
The President of the Republic had visited Karpathos on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the island’s liberation recently. During the visit, he had met with representatives of the organization on World Animal Day (October 4, 2020). In this important meeting, the President sent a strong message of hospitality to the entire country, pointing out that animals are sentient beings that we must respect. During this meeting, Ms Sakellaropoulou met the kitten (Calypso) for whom she had expressed the desire to adopt him.
And he did! And so the little Calypso from the Karpathos Mountains was found in the Presidential Palace and in the safe embrace of Mrs. Sakellaropoulou …
