Zakynthos is being attacked by Janos. The video records the turbulence of the sea in the port. Very windy winds of up to 10 Beauforts and heavy rains hit the island. Damage to a power pole causes a power outage.
Without eleectricity
The entire mechanism of the island is on red alert and officials at their posts intervene where necessary in the adverse conditions caused by the Mediterranean cyclone Janos.
A few hours ago in the Kalamaki area, an electric pole caught fire near a hotel in the area.
Firefighters, teams from the Zakynthos Regional Unit and HEDNO rushed to the scene.
The fire was extinguished immediately, but more work will need to be done in the morning. Due to the damage, a hotel in the area that houses tourists and about 10 houses is without power.
Dug trenches
In addition, crews from the Zakynthos Regional Unit dug trenches in the areas of Argassi and Alykanas that had been flooded.
Regional Lieutenant Governor George Stasinopoulos told APE – BPE that “there is coordination and cooperation with a common goal of preventing and addressing problems and the whole mechanism is on alert, hopefully we will not have many problems with the Mediterranean cyclone Janos.”
