The picturesque town of Assos on Kefalonia was completely destroyed by Cyclone Ianos.
Assos beach, with its picturesque alleys, is practically non-existent as tons of mud and debris were transported into a torrent of a stream in the area.
According to a report by ekefallonia.gr, people who were rescued at the last minute from the rough waters are trying to save as much of their property as they can. The last tourists, after living the ultimate nightmare, packed their things and left the island.
The Kefallinia Metropolitan, Mr. Dimitrios, also visited the affected area to support the residents of the small village.
