The number of cases is expected to exceed 3,000 today, confirming experts’ fears of an immediate opening. In fact, according to estimates, the figures are expected to remain at very high levels until the first ten days of April.
In the afternoon, at the briefing of the Ministry of Health, Vassilis Kikilias is expected to give information about the situation in full in the ICUs, as well as about the private clinics that will be used in the fight against the coronavirus.
Yesterday they were announced 1,533 new cases coronavirus to 12,459 when the seven-day test average was 34,679 and 59 deaths, with all the dead in Greece since the start of the pandemic reaching them 7,196. 95.8% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
At the same time, intubated patients are treated. 605 patients. It is observed that the number of intubated people exceeded 600 for the first time since the beginning of December. The highest number of intubated in Greece was recorded on December 3 (622).
The possibility of cases reaching 3,000 was not ruled out by Professor of Pulmonology at the University of Crete and Vice President of the Pulmonary Society Nikos Tzanakis, calling for a new combination of measures.
“We have said that this week we could see more than 3,000 cases. The average mobile is 2,500 to 2,600 (…) This week and until March 25 we will be on a slight but upward course,” he stressed to SKAI.
“The sewerage is a good indicator and in fact it is ahead of cases a week, maybe even more,” he commented on the EODY data that refer to a significant increase in viral load of coronavirus in Attica and Thessaloniki and launch in Crete.
“New combination of measures”
Referring to the changes in the measures he proposes, he said that instead of reducing the opening hours of stores, especially supermarkets, we should increase them. “Our goal is to dilute the world in them, not to concentrate it,” said the professor.
As he has clarified, “we must not prohibit people from going to the countryside, to their summer houses, to play sports, to have a picnic, to take measures with their family and avoid collusion, we must persecute them.”
According to Mr. Tzanakis, they should be removed immediately 2 to 3 meters. He proposed a strategic plan by conducting many tests and opening all activities in a coordinated manner.
The medical researcher George Pavlakis sounded the alarms and he in turn about a possible relaxation of the measures in the coming weeks.
“Greece is in the middle of the latest wave of the coronavirus, which may be the worst.” Deaths and intubation will increase over the next two weeks. In this huge problem, especially in Attica, where there is a possibility that the health system will dissolve, we should not speak of any openness. People can get the wrong message that we are done. People don’t know what happens in hospitals. If there had been a universal lockdown, we would not have this situation today. Halftones compound the problem. Every time we open, we open with more cases. People should see it as a new epidemic. “In winter, the virus strains are much more contagious,” he emphasized, among other things.
At the same time, he expressed the assessment that the indicators of intubation and deaths will continue to rise.
“In the next two weeks, intubates will break the previous record, for sure. Deaths continue to rise. It is very likely that we will exceed 100 deaths a day. We must tell the world that if you are indoors with other people, everyone will become infected with the virus that is now circulating. The British government has taken over Crete. “About 70-80% of cases in Israel are caused by mutated strains of the virus.”
