A wide teleconference to evaluate the epidemiological situation as it has been established in the Regional Units of Xanthi, Drama, Pella, Florina, Pieria and Imathia was held on Friday, December 4, at the Civil Protection Lighthouse, with the participation of the Minister of Civil Protection, The Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalia, the Vice Minister of the Interior in charge of Local Government Affairs, Theodoros Libanios, as well as the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgiou.
The conference was also attended by Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, while the president of the Central Union of Greek Municipalities, Dimitris Papastergiou, as well as all the mayors of the Regional Units of Xanthi, Drama, Pella, Florina, Pieria and myself participated.
The purpose of the teleconference was to assess the epidemiological situation, as well as the best possible coordination of all relevant agencies to optimally handle the situation and prevent further spread of the Covid-19 virus.
All the participants highlighted the need for faithful compliance with protection measures, while waiting for an immediate intensification of controls in these areas. In addition, EODY Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) will carry out a series of rapid tests in the coming days in large industrial units of these Regional Units. Finally, the Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management pointed out the need to intensify information and even greater awareness of the residents of these areas, noting that there is no room for complacency.
