A 23-year-old girl is so far her only recognized victim NATO helicopter crash in the Mediterranean, in front of Kefalonia, while five other members are missing.
“I am happy to be free. I lost my oldest daughter, Abigail Cowbrew, in the HMCS Fredericton Cyclone helicopter crash. There are no words You made me proud forever», The 23-year-old’s father said in a post.
Tanya Kaubrou, Abigail’s mother, wrote on Facebook that her daughter had been killed. “My beautiful daughter had a military accident and died. Nothing can replace it”he said.

The 23-year-old posted a video on her personal Facebook account about a week ago, where she is playing a game on the Fredericton frigate, to honor victims of a mass shooting on April 18 and 19 in Nova Scotia.

It all started around 8:15 pm, when the Canadian frigate HMCS Fredericton reported that he lost the press helicopter from his radars Sikorsky CH-148 «Cyclone», which patrolled the international waters between Greece and Italy, as part of a NATO exercise.
The helicopter, in which 6 people traveled, was hijacked by the HMCS frigate Fredericton and participated in NATO’s “Tranquilization” operation SNMG2, in which Greece also participates.
After notification that the helicopter has been lost from radar signalized alarm all participating forces while Greece immediately reported that it is ready to assist in the search for the helicopter and the occupants.
The wreckage of the helicopter was located shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night (4/20), while a little later the 23-year-old was found dead.
