It was almost certain, one more weekend, that we would see the two Mercedes in the first two starting positions of the race. Valteri Botas managed to take the lead in all free tests, however in qualifying his teammate surpassed him and took pole. Lewis Hamilton, then, is the one who will start from the top in Sunday’s race, at Moutzelo. Certainly for the Briton, this achievement is even more important as these three days are dedicated to Ferrari, due to his 1,000 appearances in the Formula 1 Grand Prix!
The Italian team became the first to do so and for this reason, the Grand Prix is held in Moutzelo for the first time in the track’s history. It should be noted that this 5,245-meter circuit is located in Tuscany, Italy and belongs to Ferrari. Going back to qualifying tests today, after Lewis Hamilton and Valteri Botas, we have Max Ferstappen. The Dutch Red Bull driver is very competitive from the start of the three days, as is Alex Albon, his teammate, who is in fourth place. Red Bull in qualifying rate managed to be the only team close to Mercedes, while we expect the same to happen in race pace.
Behind them is Charles Leclerc with Ferrari, who especially for this Grand Prix has a dark red color, paying homage to Ferrari’s first races in Formula 1, which were painted in this shade. Monegasque managed to get a decent place in the standings, unlike his teammate Sebastian Vettel who didn’t even make it to Q3. Below is the table with the ranking and times of the pilots, on the Moutzelos track!
