The political and military leadership of the Ministry of Defense informed the Parliamentary Armament Commission.

According to the announcement of the Minister of Defense, or Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and Vice Minister of National Defense Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis participated today, Wednesday 9 September 2020, in the meeting of the Special Standing Committee on Arms Programs and Contracts, which took place in the Senate Hall of the Greek Parliament.
The Chief of Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Chief of the General Staff, Rear Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General (I) Nikolaos Retsas were present.
The Minister and the Deputy Minister of National Defense informed the members of the Committee about the following matters within their competence:
one. Activation of the sub-program “Updating the torpedo potential of the Navy – Supply, updating and subsequent support of Greek submarine torpedoes”.
two. Activation of the “K / B RAM Verification / Maintenance” applet.
3. Opinion on the activation of the subprogram “Supply of CADs-PADs”.
Four. Opinion on the activation of the subprogram “Extension of the Life Limits Calendar of the Air Force SCALP EG Operational Missiles”.
Sources from the Ministry of Defense and Navy speak of the “mother” torpedoes, which means that the German “Sea Hake mod 4” are preferred so that it is not certification.
The same sources indicate that the number of new torpedoes is 36 and at least another 18 of the existing ones are going to be updated. The cost of this program reaches 112 million euros.
