The data revealed by a study on the surfaces and the points where the coronavirus can be detected is shocking.
Research published by a group of Greek scientists, in which Professor Sotiris Tsiodras also participates, provides new data on the evolution of the virus.
According to iatronet.gr, the scientists collected samples from a ferry, a nursing home, three CoViD-19 clinics in hospitals and a chronic hospital unit, where asymptomatic carriers of the virus had been identified.
The samples were analyzed by molecular detection method and a new coronavirus was detected: on surfaces of preparation areas, in hospital isolation rooms, in air ducts, in air conditioning filters, in a wastewater treatment plant and in air samples.
According to the authors of the study, listed below, food preparation areas and utensils may be contaminated. Drops of virus carriers can be sprayed and left on surfaces.
Scientists also leave open the possibility that the droplets are transported – in the same way – by droplets from infected people and deposited on the mucous membranes of people in the air wave that is released.
Droplets with the virus are said to have transferred from the vent to three decks above the point on the ship where the carriers were examined.
The same course was followed by cabin air in which symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with CoViD-19 lived.
Coronavirus was also detected in the air conditioning filter in a patient’s room in a nursing home.
