One man was killed and seven others injured in a series of knife attacks in Birmingham, central England, police said.
Two of the injured, a man and a woman, were seriously injured.
“We can now confirm that we have launched an investigation into the homicide after last night’s events. A man was killed and another man and a woman were seriously injured.” Five others were also injured, “West Midlands police said.
Several people were stabbed in the center of Birmingham, England’s second largest city, between Saturday night and Sunday.
According to Andrew Street, head of the West Midlands county, where Birmingham is located, the incidents appear to be related, but their causes are unknown at this time.
Earlier in the day, police said they called them around 12:30 a.m. (local time) after a man was stabbed in central Birmingham, before being informed of other similar incidents later.
