The trial for the murder of breeder Dimitris Graikos in the Thessaloniki Mixed Jury is in the final stretch. Sitting in the defendant’s chair is the 47-year-old meat merchant against whom he was indicted for willful murder.

“We ate and drank 6 to 7 people together. Then we both sat at a next table and made a bill. There I found out that he owed me 4,000 euros of the money he had given him in exchange for missing animals. We closed the account and we left because it was almost dark.
“Dimitris went first and then me. As I came out, outside the entrance post, I saw Dimitris’s car and he was sitting inside. I started to go to town. At the bend, outside the Halastra cooperative, I saw him behind me. First I went to my wife’s butcher shop. I left to go to the unit. “
Regarding the crime scene, the defendant stated the following: “I was surprised to see Dimitris there. He said ‘since you have so many animals why don’t you give them to me’. I told him I can’t. He started to get angry. He said ‘ You’re not helping me, I gave you so much money. ”He started cursing. At one point he lunged at me and grabbed me by the shirt. I slapped him in the eye. I didn’t want to kill him. We both fell. I fell on him. I was overweight. I tried to get up and saw that he was unconscious. I took a bucket of water and threw it in his face. He didn’t come back. I massaged him like I had learned in the army. “
“My phone started ringing and it was a colleague of mine who came to the unit. I hugged him (Graikos) and put him in the warehouse. I thought that when he came back he would breathe. I started to massage myself again but nothing happened. I was lost. I thought. to call my wife, my brother, but I didn’t want to confuse them. I thought I was done. I saw that he was not breathing, that he had no pulse. “
To hide the incident, he said: “So I decided to do what I did. I dug a hole with the charger, threw it down and threw debris on it. Then I buried the car. The next day the problems started. I couldn’t sleep, I turned up the sugar, I started to lose weight. I realized that I had ruined my life and my family. I am ashamed to hide it. “I was lost, that’s why I worked like that.”
The trial will continue with the speech of the headquarters prosecutor and the speech is expected to be delivered later by the civil action and defense lawyers. The decision is expected to be issued in the next court.
