The extension of the blockade is considered almost a fact in Greece, which today registered more than 100 deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours for the first time.
Although theoretically the end of the blockade would come at the end of November, the infectious diseases specialist and professor of Pathology Charalambos Gogos clarified today that it is “early” to discuss any relaxation measures, if the pressure on the national system of Health.
“The priority is the safe, effective and equal treatment of patients,” said the professor, noting, however, that there is a flattening of the epidemiological curve 2,500 to 3,000 cases per day.
According to the “reflex” in a decrease in the number of patients, it occurs between a week and ten days later, since the Covid-19 disease is so commonly necessary to cause its severe symptoms. Therefore, the next week is considered critical and if the number of daily cases starts to drop below 2,000 cases, the pressure on the NSS will decrease.
In what order will the restrictions be relaxed?
“We have at least 15 days ahead of us,” added the professor, identifying a possible first relaxation of the measures by December 15. According to the initial plan, the schools deemed to be the safest will be opened first, especially primary schools and kindergartens.
This will be followed by secondary schools and lyceums, as well as retail, where the number of customers can be controlled. Then the approach could continue, said the professor, clarifying that it refers exclusively to restaurants (yes and not to bars or nightclubs). For any function, he said that the outdoor areas will be used with heating devices.
As he said, “we are still in a very critical situation” and asked people to comply with the necessary measures to stop the second epidemic wave.
