Professor Charalambos Gogos expressed concern about the epidemiological data from Acaya prefecture, Patras in particular, speaking on SKAI TV.
“There is an alarm”, “the situation has escaped”, Mr. Gogos stressed, noting that the cases are many and not only in the general population but also in medical personnel.
He criticized the crowded images in entertainment venues, saying they are a classic hotbed of overload, as they are one on top of the other and without masks.
It is a “gift,” he explained, to take additional measures when current regulations do not apply.
How do we control such situations? That is already forbidden, the professor stressed, commenting on the images with many people having fun without measures.
Especially for the universal use of a mask, he stressed that it is something that is already practically valid, since the directive is a mask both indoors and outdoors when there is a crowd.
“The question is whether it applies,” added the professor, again advising everyone to wear the mask where they can, even if they are asymptomatic.
When asked to comment on the disagreements within the commission, he stressed that the opinions expressed are diverse, everything is done democratically and in 95% of the cases the decisions taken are unanimous.
You may have misunderstood certain attitudes of those with whom we speak, but that is not the case. He described the decision-making process for the measures, which has a multifactorial basis, as quite effective. The specialists take into account the variety of recipients, from the number of cases and intubated to the number of tests performed, but also the number of beds and ICUs.
