The country’s health authorities have no idea what exactly they are up against!
At a time when the entire planet is on its knees under the weight of the coronavirus pandemic, a new disease is coming from India and doctors have no idea what they are treating.
Residents of the city, located in the province of Uttar Pradesh, experienced dizziness, headaches, vomiting and symptoms similar to those of epilepsy. About 300 people are being treated for the unexplained illness, but more than 140 patients are being discharged after receiving medical treatment, according to NDTV in New Delhi.
Most of those who showed the strange symptoms show that they recover quickly from the strange illness, but one of the 45-year-old patients died after being admitted to the hospital with symptoms of nausea and epilepsy.
The CT scans they underwent revealed nothing unusual for the patients, and the wet spinal cord exams were normal as well. People with the disease were tested for Covid-19 and tested negative. Blood, water and food samples were collected and sent to a forensic laboratory and health officials are awaiting the results of tests performed to detect the E-coli bacteria.
At the same time, a team of doctors was dispatched to the city while officials conduct house-to-house searches in an effort to identify potential patients, as well as to find evidence that may reveal the source of the disease.
The only information available to the authorities is that some of the patients had experienced seizures and loss of consciousness after consuming tap water.
Water pollution is blamed for a number of infections and diseases, but experts insist that in this case there is no evidence that the water is responsible for the mysterious disease.
