German police have launched an investigation into a murder charge against a doctor in the city of Essen, who allegedly killed two patients infected with Covid-19.
The 44-year-old doctor has worked for Essen University Hospital since last February. He allegedly administered a lethal injectable solution to two men, aged 47 and 50, who were being cared for in the intensive care unit, in very serious condition, according to the APE-MPE.
According to Essen police, the doctor was arrested on Wednesday and confessed to murder, saying he wanted to save the patient and his relatives from his ordeal. The Bild newspaper reported that the 44-year-old man had informed the patients’ families before giving them the lethal injection.
