Coronavirus – All developments: Germany’s Foreign Ministry warns of travel to European countries, with the exception of Greece. Cyprus is also safe, but not the occupied ones. Stricter regulations for foreign travelers.
The only country in Europe that Germans can travel to without reservations is Greece. For all other European countries, the German Foreign Ministry has issued a warning to avoid unnecessary travel.
The recommendation refers to specific areas of a country or the entire territory. This stems from updated State Department recommendations and warnings, based on estimates from the Robert Koch State Institute for Infectious Diseases in Berlin.
France, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta have been added to the list of high-risk countries as a whole. The list includes for the first time regions of Poland and, again, Italy.
Cyprus, which is considered safe with the exception of the occupied territories, is also included in the category of countries where the warning refers only to certain areas. The case of Norway is special: the country is considered safe, but because it imposes a quarantine on travelers from Germany, the German Foreign Ministry issued a warning. Oslo considers Germany a high-risk country.
Tighter measures for those entering Germany
According to the online news portal “ThePionier”, German Health Minister Jens Spann is preparing stricter regulations for foreign travelers.
The bill that is presented to you envisages authorizing the Ministry of Health to issue regulations for travelers, airlines, buses and trains. It is envisaged, for example, that the ministry may require participants from high-risk countries to declare their personal data and places of residence to the Robert Koch Institute 10 days before and 10 days after their entry into Germany.
Travelers may need to fill out a special form online prior to departure. In addition, the Ministry of Health should require airlines, railways and bus companies to send lists to the Robert Koch Institute with the names of the passengers and the number of seats they occupy.
