The decision to ban the sale of durable goods – such as clothing, footwear, electrical and electronic goods, toys and books – was signed Tuesday morning by supermarkets, as long as the stores are closed, it announced via SKAI 100. 3rd Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis. As the minister explained, the objective is not to create conditions of unfair competition.

Mr. Georgiadis stated that a meeting was held on Saturday under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the presence of ESEE President George Karanikas, who made the corresponding request for a ban on the sale of non-essential products in supermarkets.

The minister announced that the prime minister is considering the request to open bookstores, emphasizing that the government will find a way to support the book.

He also said that in the bill that will be discussed on Tuesday in the competent committees of Parliament, there will be a provision that gives the right to public markets to choose which 6 days of the week they want to work, that is, if they want to have a Saturday or a Sunday off.
