Gas explosion in an apartment building

A new explosion of a makeshift mechanism consisting of gas canisters occurred at 10:45 on Friday night in eastern Thessaloniki.

These are two gas stoves that were placed by unknown persons at the entrance of an apartment building on Perdika Street.

The explosion caused significant damage to the front door and a small fire broke out that was extinguished by the neighbors by their own means. Two fire brigade vehicles immediately rushed to the scene, but did not have to intervene.

The Police carry out searches in the surroundings to locate the perpetrators, among the occupants is a person related to real estate appraisals and according to the information they are investigating the possibility that the attack was directed at him.

However, lately, gas canister attacks have increased significantly in several places, including at police houses, as EAFTHES President Theodoros Tsairidis recently complained, but also at apartment buildings where government officials live.
