An orgy of police repression by anti-authoritarians is reported, who gathered in Galatsi despite the Police ban.

It is recalled that GADA had prohibited the meeting of members of the Golden Dawn, on the occasion of the anniversary of the murder of two of its members, as well as the anti-meeting of anti-authoritarians. However, both rallies took place on Sunday afternoon.
Members of Ilias Kasidiaris’ party, “Greeks for the Fatherland”, finally held the rally they had announced and arrived at the New Heraklion cemetery around 5:30 pm, where the police forces intervened and disbanded them, proceeding simultaneously with 10 arrests.

A little later, at 18:00, members of the collective “Nea Ionia / Heraklion Anti-Authoritarian / Anti-Fascist Assembly” held a counter-meeting at a hangout in Galatsi on Agios Andreas Square and tried to march towards New Heraklion.
The police arrested the anti-authoritarians who did not march and returned to Galatsi where there was tension and took 14 people.
According to complaints on social networks, the police surrounded the anti-authoritarians without leaving any means of escape, so they sought refuge in a cafeteria in the area. However, the police entered the cafeteria and serious incidents followed with injuries.

As members of collectives, but also ordinary citizens, they always complain on social networks, the forces of the MAT fired tear gas inside the closed space and while in the cafeteria and the surrounding shops there were ordinary citizens with children.
Specifically, inside the cafeteria was a family with a 5-year-old boy. The testimonies state that the mother of the 5-year-old girl was trapped with her son outside the baths and received an indefinite number of beatings by the Hellenic Liberation Army. In the video above, the mother screams saying “what are you doing?”
Another father had raised his son in the air and shouted “I have my son, I have my son.”
