New, more relaxed measures come into force on the morning of Saturday, April 3, with the aim of easing restrictions and improving the psychology of citizens.
As of today, the free movement of citizens from municipality to municipality with SMS 6 and only for exercise is allowed. The measure is being implemented on a pilot basis and is valid only on weekends. That is, citizens can move with their vehicle and up to three people in the car and go to another area for physical exercise.
The inhabitants of the Thessaloniki, Achaia and Kozani regions will not be exempted from this measure, as initially announced after the decision was made during the extraordinary meeting of the expert committee on Friday, April 2. Yesterday, the commission also suggested not to open retail in these areas as of Monday, April 5, the date of its reopening throughout the country.
However, after the reactions provoked by the measure and the last minute decisions, Civil Protection withdrew the decision to prohibit free movement in the aforementioned areas. Thus, with a new announcement on the morning of Saturday, April 3, Civil Protection points out that:
After an extraordinary meeting of the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against the coronavirus that took place on Friday, April 2 and taking into account the particularly worrying epidemiological picture presented by the regional units of Thessaloniki, Kozani and Acaya, it was decided to suspend the reopening on April 5 in these three regions and until Monday April 12 “.
However, the government does not accept the suggestion of infectious disease specialists to ban travel between municipalities in Thessaloniki, Achaia and Kozani. This clarification was made by the New Democracy deputy, Dimitris Kairidis, speaking with SKAI.
The experts’ recommendation lies in the epidemiological data of the three areas. According to them, according to the professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and member of the Expert Committee Vana Papaevangelou, new cases in Thessaloniki increased by 28% last week, while it is estimated that the city of Thessaloniki has more than 2,000 active cases. .

New sms for purchases
Citizens to make their purchases in stores, must send an SMS with their name to 13032 to be able to travel to any required place within the prefecture. The SMS will last for three hours and can only be sent once a day.
In addition, in addition to the sms, they are also valid to click away and click on the store. In short, citizens must bring proof of their appointment, such as an SMS or an email order or online payment.
Respectively, merchants should welcome inside, only one customer for every 25 square meters. of your store with a maximum of 20 customers per box, while purchases, if not paid electronically, should only be made by card. The product can be picked up outside the store.
The stores that open on Mondays are the following:
– the neighborhood shops
– large chain stores, but not located in a shopping center
toy, electricity and other stores
– department stores that do not have other stores inside, that is, they do not function as shopping centers

For the specific stores, the epidemiological data will be reviewed next week by the experts and then the competent ministries will make the decisions.
What areas are going “deep red” as of today
Today new areas with a very high risk level (bright red) are included following a relevant Commission decision. These areas are:

– the municipality of Serres
– Konitsa Municipality of the Ioannina Regional Unit
– the municipality of Skyros of the Regional Unit of Evia
– Astypalea Municipality of the Kalymnos Regional Unit
– the municipality of Rhodes of the Rhodes Regional Unit
The very high risk level (bright red) also includes Leros and the municipality of Galatini in the municipality of Askio in the municipality of Voio in the Kozani regional unit, following the expiration of the special regime of additional restrictive measures and the declaration of emergency civil protection.
At the same time, as of today, the Local Community of Distratos of the Konitsa municipality and the gypsy settlement of the Perama Local Community of the Ioannina municipality, as well as the Leo Samos Municipal Community.
The following measures apply in these areas:
– Temporary restriction at the residence of residents and prohibition of 24-hour traffic, excluding traffic for health reasons (sms code 1) or catering (sms code 2 – and excluding the period between 18:00 and 06:00 next) or for work reasons, (for the services that remain open and with the corresponding certificate).
– The movement of residents outside the geographical limits is allowed only for health reasons.
The following measures will also apply:
– Suspension of retail and health stores, with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations. Delivery services are excluded from the suspension of operation until 23:00.
– Suspension of gatherings / public or social events regardless of the public or private space, internal or external.
– Suspension of the operation of public markets.
– Suspension of religious ceremonies, except for funerals with the presence of up to 9 first-degree relatives (sms code 5) and performance of services, cults, rituals, sacraments and all kinds of religious ceremonies, exclusively by the religious . ministers and the necessary auxiliary personnel without the presence of other natural persons.
