A 31-year-old woman in France stabbed to death her 10-year-old niece, seriously injured her 4-year-old niece, while her newborn son was found dead in the same house.
The tragedy unfolded in a house in Lime, on the outskirts of Paris, on Christmas Eve. The 4-year-old boy was taken to hospital and is being treated in critical condition.
When police searched the house where the family tragedy unfolded, they found the 31-year-old newborn baby dead. He was found on the floor of the apartment and had no obvious injuries, but during the forensic examination “bodily injuries” were found, according to the Versailles prosecutor’s office, which did not provide further details.
Five adults and three children had gathered at home for Christmas Eve. The family moved there a few months ago, according to neighbors.
An occupant of the building described to the French Agency that he woke up from the “horrible screams”. Looking to see what was happening, he saw from the terrace of the playground “my neighbor, my uncle, who was yelling for help and massaging his nephew.”
The neighbor helped the uncle try to keep the boy alive until the ambulance arrived 15-20 minutes later. However, the boy had received multiple stab wounds to the chest and rescuers were unable to bring him back.
The 31-year-old perpetrator, who works in Lime municipality, was arrested and initially taken to hospital, but was quickly discharged. The woman, according to a police source, said she was “demonized” and had wounds on her wrists. Another source said that the 31-year-old was under psychiatric supervision, whereas before she had not occupied the police authorities.
