An extraordinary inter-ministerial meeting will be held at 9.30 am in the Palace of the Maxims under the command of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the participation of the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum Youtaros Mitarikos EYP Panagiotis Kontoleontas and the Head of GEETHA Konstantinos Floros.
The extraordinary inter-ministerial meeting will also be attended by Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos and Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias
The situation in Moria and the measures that will be taken to deal with it will be examined.
How the fire broke out
The reason was the announcement that 35 people tested positive for coronavirus and be isolated together with their relatives but. This would take place in warehouses outside the KYT (Reception and Identification Center) on the road to Panagiouda.
Some of them reacted to the prospect of isolation and refused to leave the field.
Others tried to leave the camp late Tuesday night, moving up the mountain, believing that they would thus escape the danger of the coronavirus caused by contact with those who refused to leave.
The clashes between them soon sparked fires initially around the camp that burned all the tents outside and around the KYT and containers inside.
Speaking to SKAI, the Special Secretary of the First Reception, Manos Logothetis, who will address Mytilene, stated that the KYT, which has been evacuated, has suffered extensive damage.
As he pointed out, currently the demand is to house the 13,000 refugees and migrants, while acknowledging that additional measures must be taken to have full control of the structures.
