A fire is breaking out in a forest area at the end of Kleisoura Street in Byron.
Initially, 40 firefighters, 12 vehicles and two groups of pedestrians were mobilized at the scene, while METPE and volunteer firefighters are also helping to extinguish the fire, while two helicopters operate from the air.
According to information from the Fire Department, at this time the fire does not threaten a residential area and is heading towards the forest area, however what inspires concern are the strong winds that blow in the area.
A short time later, the Fire Brigade was reinforced and now 62 firefighters, 5 helicopters and one aircraft operate.
Due to the occurrence of the fire, as it was known some time ago, the traffic stopped on Anastaseos street from the height of the Papagou cemetery, on Archiepiskopou Athens Chrysostomou street from Alimou – Katehaki Avenue (traffic flow towards the mountain), in Karea Avenue from the amount of its contribution with Alimou – Katehaki Avenue, and on Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue from the height of the contribution with Alimou – Katehaki Avenue.
