Speaking to “MEGA Weekend”, the Secretary General for Anti-Crime Policy, Sofia Nikolaou, explained the changes that will be made.
As he said, the new prisons will be moved to a 180 acre parcel in Aspropyrgos and will be state of the art and complete.

According to Ms Nikolaou, the new prisons will be ready in mid-2022.
At the same time, the Secretary for Anti-Crime Policy referred to the inauguration of the new Penitentiary Academy in Eleonas.
“For the first time, prison officials and external guards will have their own training area and dormitory,” he said.
He also said that recently there have been 11,500 searches in prisons. “We want to send a message.” Anarchy and the mafia in prisons will end, “he stressed.
