The regular non-troop exercise “Alexandros – 20” will take place from September 23 to October 2 instead of the regular post-troop exercise “Parmenion – 20”.
Exercise “Alexandros – 20” will be carried out at the suggestion of GEETHA and after the approval of the country’s political leadership.
According to an announcement by the General Staff of National Defense (GEETHA), this decision was made given that a series of important unplanned operational activities, intersectoral trainings and international exercises and collaborations with countries such as the United States, France, Italy, Egypt, Israel, United Arab Emirates and Cyprus.
As GEETHA emphasizes, important benefits, conclusions and lessons learned emerged from these activities, while they were a practical test of the preparation and preparation for combat of the country’s Armed Forces.
In addition, the announcement added, the very demanding activities of the Armed Forces during the last two months were taken into account, as well as the maintenance – scheduled and unplanned – required, in conjunction with measures to prevent and protect personnel from the coronavirus.
