Hospitals across the country are in critical condition, with the NSS unable to respond to the rapid spread of the deadly virus in the country, resulting in increased imports and the need for intubation, suffocating the ICU.
Thessaloniki hospitals are in the eye of the storm, with ICU beds full at most hospitals in the city and doctors note that they will need to open additional wings, converting single beds into ICU beds.
At the same time, procedures continue to apply for private clinics in Thessaloniki, as the business plan predicts that the first positive coronavirus patients should have been transferred on Monday.
Plans are also ready to transport patients to hospitals in other cities.
The situation in Attica hospitals is somewhat better, but also worrying and marginal. At Evangelismos Hospital, more than half of the ICU beds are occupied.
With the strengthening and support of the NSS to face the second severe wave of the pandemic is now an insurmountable need, it is planned, according to exclusive information from the MEGA, one of the largest hospitals in Attica, which will be transformed in the coming days exclusively into a Covid-19 center, that is, it will only treat patients suffering from the deadly virus.

Images of war in hospitals
Such a move could also help decompress the Region’s hospitals, whose messages are extremely disturbing to agencies and employees describing conditions reminiscent of war.
The situation in hospitals in Central Macedonia and especially in the ICU is out of control, according to the latest data from POEDIN. Although the admission of patients with coronavirus has decreased slightly, the number of doctors and nurses who are infected with coronavirus daily is alarmingly high.
POEDIN complains that there are no more empty beds in the pre-existing ICUs and that a “field ICU” bed is installed on site for anyone needing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. At the same time, there is a significant shortage of medical supplies provided with the dropper. Masks, high protection suits, boots, etc., are items that are in short supply. “The colleagues put garbage bags on their feet to enter the ICU due to lack of boots,” emphasizes POEDIN.
Import curve
In the last two shifts of the Thessaloniki hospitals, we had a decrease in the number of admissions, POEDIN points out. The day before yesterday, 80 coronavirus patients were admitted to Papageorgiou out of about 120 on previous shifts.
The situation is gone
Yesterday at Ippokratio 90 patients of the 120 who were admitted in previous shifts were admitted. But the situation disappears with intubated patients who do not have an ICU. The usual ICUs were filled, even the temporary ones. Intubated patients are treated in common rooms.
According to the latest data:
ΚΑΤΕΡΙΝΗ:
It had 4 tubes in chambers. The ICU beds increased by 2, they were refilled and the 4 patients intubated outside the ICU continue.
SAN DIMITRIOS:
Three intubated in common chambers.
