George Koumbas has been a leading figure in the insurance market for many decades and has contributed greatly to the emergence and development of the role of independent insurance consultant in Greece.
After all, your company was the first (and only so far) insurance consulting firm to enter. Athens Stock Exchange in 1996.
George Koumbas was actively involved in Greek Insurance Brokers Association (SEMA), occasionally occupying a position on the Board of Directors of the Association.

The SEMA Board expressed its deep regret at the loss of George Koumbas, one of the founders of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Greece and one of the most prominent executives in the insurance market.
George Koumbas, his contribution to the industry, the support he provided to SEMA and his strong personality, is mentioned by the president of SEMA, Michalis Tzortzoris, with the following declaration:
“It was in early 2020, on a Monday morning, that Mr. Koumbas called me on the phone to inform me that he would like to attend the next SEMA Board of Directors.
He arrived early, smiling and calm as always. Lord, I would say!
His presence is aristocratic and benevolent. A calm force embraced him.
We had an enthusiastic meeting, full of old stories, messages and knowledge, advice for the future of SEMA. Her eyes shone with joy and that also seduced ours. His love for SEMA and the insurance broker profession was as evident as his desire to talk to us about the job.
The reason for your visit that day was to express your gratitude! Because, a few days ago, we had announced our unanimous decision to honor him at our Ordinary Annual General Meeting in March 2020, proposing that he be appointed Vice President of Honor. She was nice, you see.
I needed it? No way! But we needed it!
It was the minimal recognition of his great long-term contribution to the Greek insurance industry – especially for Brokers – and his great work, which fortunately is recorded in detail in the historical archive of our practices.
Unfortunately, the pandemic did not allow us to complete the vacation we were planning.
However, this is a short postponement because our promise will be kept in its entirety, while our thanks in your memory is the most important gift.
Without a doubt, Mr. Koumbas wrote his name in the modern history of the insurance market. He was a leader, teacher and visionary, one of the founders of SEMA. A true fighter. Always decent, always great, always arrogant, win or lose.
On his way there is a strong footprint that will teach and inspire us.
