One of our own, journalist Dimitris Karanikolas, passed away today. Dimitris of us all, Dimitris of ERT, has been fighting the health issue that he faced with dignity all the time before.

Dimitris Karanikolas was born in Alimos in 1961. He was married to Amalia Kontorousi and they have two children together, Eleni and Giorgos.

Dimitris Karanikolas had begun to show his vocation in journalism since 1981, where he worked as a journalist, while from 1995 to the present he worked for ERT.

He had covered events, inside and outside Greece, related to politics, education, the Church, the field of health and police information, while he had been assigned dozens of missions around the world.

He had also worked in the newspapers ETHNOS, ETHNOS tis KYRIAKIS, KYRIAKATIKI ELEFTHEROTYPIA, TOMORROW, EXCURSION, LA NIGHT and DAILY.

His presence in the Press magazine is also important with many collaborations in the ICONES, MODERN WOMAN, ART AND CULTURE, MY CHILD AND YO magazines but also on the radio waves.

The highlight so far of his journalistic career has been the coverage of Andreas Papandreou’s hospitalization in “Onassis.” The unique journalistic experience, as he himself characterizes, which he recorded in the pages of his book “The journal of a journalist – 3000 hours of agony” – (THOUKIDIDIS publications).
