Erdogan’s demand for Merkel’s ransom for expelling Oruc Reis

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a tough deal by playing the role of Oruc Reis’s expulsion from the Mediterranean during a two-hour teleconference with German Chancellor and President of the European Council Charles Michel last Tuesday.

At the same time, the Turkish president proposed a “regional conference”, in which all the coastal countries of the region but also the Turkish Cypriots will participate, although they are not recognized as a state entity.
