Turkey may be open to dialogue with Greece and the threat of sanctions against it may increase if the escalation is not reduced, but its president continues to launch threats against our country.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Saturday afternoon, again referred to the events in the Eastern Mediterranean, in his speech at the inauguration of a hospital.
The Turkish president characteristically said: “You will soon understand that Turkey has the political, economic and military power to tear down the illegal maps that have been imposed on it.”
He continued: “Either they will understand it in the language of politics and diplomacy, or they will understand it based on their painful experiences on the battlefield.”

Speaking about the internal and external threats his country has faced, Erdogan said meaningfully: “Behind the incredible alliances against our country and attitudes that do not change rights and the law, there is fear.”
“Turkey and the Turkish people are ready for any possibility, for any result,” he concluded.
“I hope they don’t pay the same price as 100 years ago
Earlier, Erdogan had again referred to the past of the two countries, saying: “A century ago, we either buried them in the ground or we threw them into the sea. I hope they don’t pay the same price.”
The full statement in a speech to graduates of the Turkish National Defense University:
“Those who attacked our independence a century ago, the Turkish people buried in the ground or threw them into the sea. Those who attacked our flag and our prayer, when seeking a way out of this pressure, executed three prime ministers, two ministers and a general. We hope they don’t make the same mistake today and pay the same price today. “
It should be noted that it was not Erdogan who was present at the event, but Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, who kept his cell phone open so that the Turkish president could make his statements.
OUR PRESIDENT SN. RECEP TAYYİP ERDOĞAN: “The more our Turkish Armed Forces clean the coup plotters from within, the mankurt whose hearts and eyes are outside, and the lumpen who have lost ties with the homeland and the nation, the more we thank Allah, the stronger “. EU ready for restrictive measures
The EU is ready to impose restrictive measures if Turkey does not calm down, said Peter Stano, the commission’s foreign affairs spokesman.
“The EU is very clear about its solidarity with Greece and Cyprus and the EU’s expectation towards Turkey was expressed both in public statements and through the commitment of High Representative Borrell, who had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.” He informed him about the discussions with the foreign ministers and the expectations of the EU to see a decrease, dialogue and compromise, and not unilateral steps that are challenging and contribute to escalating tensions, “said Peter Stano.
In addition, speaking with ERT, Mr. Stano stressed that “the EU has clarified what will happen on our part if there are no signs of de-escalation”. That is why the council is willing to start discussions on possible restrictive measures, but we all hope that it will be possible to move forward through dialogue and discussion ”.
When asked what measures would scare Turkey and cause Ankara to change its position, Stano said that it is not in the nature of the EU to threaten anyone. However, if the principles of the EU are not respected or violated, many measures can be taken.
“Regarding Turkey’s other actions against an EU Member State, Greece, the EU has indicated that we are ready for discussions to see what kind of action could be taken to show how strict and firm we are in showing solidarity and defending our principles and protect our interests. “
