Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, through his lawyers, has filed a lawsuit against the editors of a Greek newspaper for the insulting front page against him, according to the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
The controversial headline of the newspaper “Democracy” reads: “Before c …, Mr. Erdogan”, while on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Greek ambassador to Ankara on the subject, as the article was considered offensive to the face of the Turkish president.

The Greek Foreign Ministry had condemned the publication from the outset in a statement, which read as follows: “Freedom of expression and freedom of the press are fully guaranteed in Greece. This fact does not negate the obligation to refrain from insulting the personality of any person, mostly foreign leaders. The use of insulting expressions is detrimental to the political culture of our country and can only be condemned»
For his part, government spokesman Stelios Petsas had also condemned the use of insulting words against the Turkish president, commenting that “offensive language is contrary to our values.”
“Freedom of speech and independence of the press are at the heart of the Greeks and are protected in our Constitution. However, this does not negate the responsibility to respect a foreign leader.” Offensive language goes against our values and it can only be condemned by the Greek government, “Petsas wrote in a Twitter post.
