Serious incidents occurred on Friday night (12/25) in Aspropyrgos.
The episodes broke out in Aspropyrgos by a group of about 100 people who reacted to the shutdown, which is being implemented in western Attica.
The riots started when the men were holding back stones and wood in his hands they moved against the police forces located on Nato Avenue, as part of the measures to implement the confinement. The assailants departed from Goritsa’s position.
In fact, police sources report that some of the attackers fired Molotov cocktails, with MAT squads responding using chemicals. Strong police forces remain at the scene, while the Hellenic police have so far reported no arrests. The situation in the area is still deteriorating.
It is recalled that the strict measures in West Attica and Kozani were extended for another week.
Due to the intense epidemiological burden and after an extraordinary meeting of the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against the Coronavirus Covid 19, it was unanimously decided to extend the additional restrictive measures in the three Municipalities of West Attica (Municipality of Aspropyrgos, Municipality of Elefsil).
