The systematic implementation of multiple precautionary measures will be based on the safe operation of schools during the new school year that will begin on September 14 instead of September 7 as originally planned.

The major hygiene measures to be taken during the operation of the schools have already been announced and now the burden has fallen on better training the staff and equipping the schools with the necessary ones.

As an indication, measurements according to EODY include:

• an effort to maintain distances between students and student-teachers, as far as possible, in conjunction with the operation of the school in fixed groups of children who do not systematically come into contact with each other

• Frequent and correct application of hand hygiene (washing with soap and water and / or application of hand antiseptic)

• The proper use of a suitable protective mask (cloth or simple surgery) by both teachers and students, taking care of relevant education; the school recommends the widespread use of a cloth mask (with few exceptions), but may
a simple surgical mask is also used

• good ventilation of rooms, clean rooms and regular application of disinfectant on surfaces

• Avoid large gatherings of students and other people visiting the school when this is not necessary.

• Abstinence from school for those who develop fever and / or other symptoms compatible with COVID-19, protection of students and teachers belonging to
in vulnerable groups.

EODY’s temporary instructions include actions that students must take in and out of the classroom.

At the same time, useful instructions are given to deal with possible situations at school, such as what the child can do if the antiseptic ends or what to do before entering the classroom.

The purpose of the instructions is to inform teachers and other school personnel in the country (and through them and students and their families) about the reopening of schools from September 2020, infection by COVID-19, prevention measures spread of the virus, the necessary actions in case of suspected COVID-19 infection and, in general, the safe reopening of schools.

“Continuing to operate schools during the pandemic is extremely important. The presence of children in school, especially the youngest ones, is essential and cannot be replaced by exclusive distance education. School attendance is important to the process. education, the acquisition of new knowledge and the development of skills, ”says EODY.

If a child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection, the following is prescribed:

• Communication with the family to pick up the child

• Isolation in a predetermined well-ventilated area, under supervision, away from other children and application of a simple surgical mask
• Application of hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene

• Personal protective equipment for personnel (mask, gloves, waterproof apron and eye protection with goggles or face shield, in
case of risk of ejection of biological fluids / respiratory secretions)

• Thorough cleaning of the area and application of disinfectant to surfaces after the child’s departure

• Medical evaluation and at the discretion of the treating physician, if the child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection, a molecular diagnostic test should be performed as a priority.

• Pending the result, the child remains isolated and cared for at home, in a well-ventilated room, while the school continues to function normally.
