The 24 year old Joao Guilherme Torres Fadini and Larissa Campos, a 25-year-old fiancée, brought their friends together to celebrate their engagement together at the Ituparanga dam on the Sorocampa River in Brazil.
After the engagement, the young man kissed the 25-year-old and went with his friends to take a dip in the river, according to the Daily Mail.
“After the kiss, he took off his shirt and went to the river with the other children” Larissa, 25, said about Joao.
“He asked me to wait for him and he told me he loves me” added the 25-year-old, according to G1 News. “They started running to the other side.” Almost everyone gave up and only he and his brother Gabriel continued swimming. “

And as the two of them continued the fight, suddenly, Joao disappeared under the water. His company desperately searched for him and asked for help.
The Sao Roche Fire Department arrived at the scene and began searching the river with boats and divers. “Almost an hour and a half later, the divers found his body” said his fiancee.
“It just came to our knowledge then. Now I am left with only the memories of all of us who lived together and what we dreamed of.” Larissa said, surprised.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the tragedy.
