The daughter of the late Errikos Divanis, Elli, one of the successors of the family hotel business “Divani” in Athens and Thessaly (Kalampaka-Larissa), passed away.

According to trikalavoice.gr, Elli Divani passed away only at the age of 33.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday at 12 noon, at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Nikolaos in Trikala.

The history of Divani hotels

The beginning came in 1958, when Aristotle Divanis, following the advice of the then Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis to deal with Tourism and Hospitality, opened the first hotel in Trikala.

This first hotel venture by the founder of the Group was innovative from the beginning, since each of the 65 rooms in the unit had its own bathroom.

Mr. Aristotelis Divanis’ love of hospitality and entrepreneurial spirit paved the way for the future, retiring from any other business activity and focusing exclusively on the hotel industry.

With his first business initiative in the field of Tourism crowned with absolute success, Aristotelis Divanis foresees the upward evolution of the emblematic destination of Meteora and makes the great decision for the establishment of the second hotel of the Group in Kalambaka.

After the end of the dictatorship, the Group is now the largest in Thessaly, opening its third unit, this time in the city of Larissa.

The next step seemed prescribed. Shortly before the end of the second decade in the hotel industry, the Group’s founder, in collaboration with his roommate, Mr. Zafolias, inaugurated his first hotel in Athens in the Acropolis area.

Aristotelis Divanis strategically chooses the most popular and world-recognizable place in the country to identify it with its first hotel in the capital.

The descent to Athens was a success and a catalyst for the subsequent course.

The third decade of the Divani Group brings another hotel to Athens, the Divani Zafolia Alexandras, a historic building in a changing Athens.

The next stop is Corfu

The Ionian Island was then one of the most popular tourist destinations for the British public, which had started to grow significantly year after year. Mr. Aristotelis Divanis predicts increased tourist flow and enters the 1980s dynamically with the acquisition of Corfu Kanoni. Thus, the luxurious Divani Corfu Palace “was born” and became a unique resort in the region.

The consolidation of the Group in the Capital

1986 is the year that Spyros Divanis, Aristotle’s son, began to be active in the Group’s businesses after completing his postgraduate studies. The experience of the founder in combination with the dynamics and innovative ideas of the new generation lead the Group to the next steps.

Although this is a difficult period for Greek tourism, the Group is dynamically repositioning itself in the Athens market and wins the gamble by acquiring the historic Hotel Caravel. In three years, Divani Caravel becomes the first profitable hotel business and is the first choice for holding demanding national and international events and conferences for decades to come.

At the same time, on its 40th anniversary, the Group dares to make another significant investment by acquiring the iconic Southern Suburbs landmark of Apollon Pallas in Vouliagmeni. A strategic movement and investment that has established him locally and internationally, with the market recognizing his leadership.

International distinctions and inclusion in the Leading Hotels of the World

The fifth decade of Divani hotels brings important distinctions around the world. The radical renovation of Apollon Pallas, now called Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso, as well as the creation of a state-of-the-art 3,500 square meter thalassotherapy center. and the “Aristotelis Divanis” Conference Center lay the foundation for the hotel’s enhanced presence. International recognition and participation in the global hotel elite with inclusion in the Leading Hotels of the World family comes as a natural continuation, followed by Divani Caravel. The continuous effort to provide unique services and significant investment movements led to the Group’s prosperity with the acquisition of another Divani Apollon Suites hotel.
