The Administration and the staff of the National Opera express their pain and deep regret over the death of Eftychios Voridis, professor of Cardiology and former chairman of the ELS board of directors.

Eftychios Voridis was born in 1925 in Thessaloniki. He graduated in 1952 from the Athens School of Medicine, where he was elected First Grade Professor in 1982.

After his career abroad, in 1960 he returned to Greece and became a pioneer and founder of cardiology in our country. He was, among others, president of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, but also a member of the French Society of Cardiology.

He served as Director of the Cardiology Clinic at “Evangelismos”, the People’s Hospital and the “Salud” Hospital.

He was repeatedly honored for his scientific work in France, culminating in his promotion to a corresponding member of the Paris Academy of Medicine.

Eftychios Voridis was a valuable collaborator and supporter of the work of the National Opera, lover of music and lyrical art, while in 2006 he was for a few months Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELS.
