Serious construction problems in the village, where many Trikala people come from, were caused by last night’s 4.3 magnitude Richter earthquake, centered in mountainous Grevena.
As recorded by trikalavoice.gr Megali Panagia, the town’s main church, as well as other stone-built churches and the iconic school show cracks in their stonework.
On Tuesday morning, the Deputy Mayor of Grevena, a native of Megalith of Trikala, was found in Samarina for an on-site inspection. Christos Trigonis, together with the mayor George Dastamanis and the other deputy mayor Zia Kiaka.
As he tells us, “a more detailed record of the competent services will be followed to capture and assess the status and needs of the restorations.”
