In the final stretch is the government’s procurement plan. self test, which will be an important “weapon” in the fight against the coronavirus, even contributing to the gradual opening of economic and social activities.
In fact, tomorrow’s update on the course of the pandemic is most likely expected to make announcements on the framework for the distribution and use of self-tests.
Operation “Decentralization” through telework
The suppliers are said to be two companies, out of a total of five that had passed to the final phase.
According to information from MEGA, the first self-tests will begin to be distributed in pharmacies in Attica – if possible – even during the weekend, while their distribution will continue throughout the territory. Opera means that they will probably be available to the public starting next week.
Who will have priority
However, in the first phase, there will be a priority list on the one hand due to the government’s plan to reopen specific activities in the near future, on the other hand because pharmacies across the country will not have time to obtain the tests.
Specifically, according to the same information, it will be the Lyceum students and their teachers who next week will have the opportunity to go to the pharmacies to look for them.
In addition, during the briefing of the accredited political authors, the government representative, Aristotle Peloni, pointed out that priority will be given to students and teachers, adding that self-assessments are a key tool for the operation of schools.
However, given the planning for the schools to open on April 12, they will have to take the individual test on Sunday, one day before the schools reopen.
How they will be administered
According to the announcements so far, citizens will have the right to receive from pharmacies a package of four self-diagnoses per week, fulfilling 7 days from the previous reception.
Citizens will be able to obtain home self-diagnosis tests at the neighborhood pharmacy, where with the AMKA demonstration they will be provided with all the necessary components to complete the rapid detection test
It will also be possible to receive the packages on behalf of minor children or their elderly parents, while written instructions will be given with the package for the correct sample collection.
What happens in case of a positive result?
If the test result is positive, then you must enter the platform self-testing.gov.gr where citizens will enter with their AMKA to declare the positive test result.
Then, a certificate will be issued according to which they will be able to go to one of the proposed fixed sampling points for confirmation with a second test by a health professional and to update the registry of patients with COVID-19 disease.
This certificate cannot be used for work exemptions or any other obligation.
Attention is drawn to the fact that in case of symptoms, patients must visit a stable health facility to make a clinical assessment and evaluation of the findings.
In fact, during the periodic update last Friday, the Deputy Minister of Health, Vassilis Kontozamanis, provided additional information on the self-diagnostic tests.
According to the relevant literature, approximately one in three people who are carriers of the new coronavirus do not have symptoms and transmit it without knowing it. Therefore, all the studies on the pandemic point to the fact that regular screening tests help limit the spread of the disease.
The citizen self-diagnosis campaign is carried out at the suggestion of the Committee of experts and will work in a complementary way and parallel to all other actions such as the daily focused and randomized control by means of rapid tests and the vaccination of the population. from the country.
“By testing once a week, we have the ability to detect the virus, stop its spread and transmission, and plan and secure the resumption of activities,” said Mr. Kontozamanis.
