Scientists who discovered the Ebola virus warn that humanity will soon face a worse virus.
The planet is fighting the coronavirus, yet one of the scientists who discovered Ebola said that we will soon face a much worse virus.
Professor Jean-Jacques Muyembe Tamfum was at the forefront of Ebola in 1976 as a researcher, collecting samples from patients showing early symptoms. A disease that until then humanity had never seen before.
Samples sent from the Congo were analyzed in the United States and Belgium, where a worm-shaped virus was discovered while the patients with it lived near the Ebola River.
Professor Muyembe heads the Institute of Biomedicine in Kinshasa, and his prediction of humanity’s evolution against viruses is terrifying.
“We are in an era where new pathogens are constantly appearing.” Something that is now a permanent threat to humanity, “the professor told CNN.
When Muyembe was asked about the possibility of facing a new and more deadly disease, he replied, “Yes, I think it will happen!”
It’s worth noting that dozens of scientists have raised a similar possibility, emphasizing that we must be prepared for the nightmare scenario.
