704 students and 491 students have been infected by the coronavirus from September 14 to October 25, according to the corresponding table and distribution revealed by “A Vima.” In addition, 293 teachers of all levels have become ill. It is also found that total coronavirus cases have occurred in 1,023 school units (of which 47% in Attica) and in 528 various other educational units.
46% of these cases in school students (primary schools, secondary schools and lyceums) have occurred in Attica and 21% in central Macedonia.
However, it is impressive that in central Macedonia 40.5% of students across the country who have been detected with the deadly virus from across the country have been diagnosed with covid-19.
This is due to the high percentage of “participation” of the 18-24 age group – which belongs to the vast majority of students – in the co-capital and other Macedonian prefectures in all coronavirus patients.
In Thessaloniki, the percentage of patients between 18 and 24 years is of the order of 33% of the total. And all this, of course, when the number of students studying at the Aristotle University is about 60% of the students at the University of Athens and the Polytechnic. Which is undoubtedly one more example of the epidemiological burden in Thessaloniki and other areas of central Macedonia.
