Coronavirus: What is the ‘Madrid model’ that can be applied in Athens – Society

[ad_1]

The government is considering taking even stricter measures for Attica after yesterday’s negative record of 453 new cases (with the Attica Basin recording 174 of them).

The dramatic data of new cases every day in the community and serious patients admitted to hospitals have alarmed both the government and specialists, with the result that many are talking about a generalized closure, at least, at the regional level.

According to experts, there are two population groups that create the big problem in Athens: The first is immigrants, since many people live together in houses and in fact cannot follow sanitary regulations. The second group are the elderly. In this group the problem arises from their relatives, since they are trapped by their relatives.

With the aim of cutting the chain of transmission, if they know which areas are the dangerous links with a high epidemiological burden, but also protect vulnerable groups of the population, those responsible are studying the implementation of the so-called “Madrid model” in Attica .

What is the Madrid model

It is a light quarantine model, with which the Spaniards – who have recently applied it – try to delimit areas with an epidemiological burden and limit the movement of inhabitants within these areas to reduce cases.

According to the Madrid model, the restrictions are located at the local level within the “red” epidemiological basin, that is, directed to areas where there is a large circulation of coronavirus and therefore a greater risk.

At the same time, horizontal measures are applied to the opening hours of health stores, outdoor events, gatherings, use of masks, etc., that is, measures have been implemented aimed at reducing the critical points of co-location and over-transmission. .

The prohibition of access to parks and public places, such as squares, and the movement of residents out of epidemiologically “red” areas only for a specific reason -professional, educational, legal, medical- declared to the authorities, are two more pillars of the Spanish. model, which are also considered for Attica.

In fact, a plan by the Greek Police has already been activated in the basin in this direction, which includes, among other things, exclusion tapes in squares, information campaigns and patrols in neighborhoods for the implementation of the measures.

In particular, among the measures that EL.AS may apply. as a last resort are the following:

  • Emergency disconnection teams, that is, police who will arrive very early to places with crowded people to make recommendations.
  • Advertising campaign against overcrowding and for the implementation of measures.
  • Patrol speaker decongestion recommendations in two or three languages, maybe more.
  • Frequent patrols and presence of static forces in squares.
  • Anti-Covid “surveillance” of sidewalks, parks, squares, bushes and open sports venues and stadiums.
  • Persuasions in kiosks and mini markets located near squares and places where there is congruence, so as not to give alcohol after 12.

At the same time, due to the continuous taking of measures in various areas of Greece – which can cause confusion for citizens – a special application is being developed in collaboration with EODY, GGP and the Ministry of Digital Government, in which the typing of the Zip code will display the restrictive measures in effect by geographic unit.

SMS transfers

As for restricting travel to residents of congested areas, the tools are: These are the sms or travel forms that were used in the last months of March and April in the general confinement, and as all those responsible have said many times , if necessary, they can be reused at any time.

In congested areas of Madrid, the opening hours of restaurants, cafeterias, etc., in addition to the general sanitary restrictions that apply to the limit of people, are limited: Shops close at 10 p.m. except those that make deliveries. In addition, in relation to the less crowded areas, the fullness of places of worship and the number of people who can attend a religious ceremony have been further reduced.
