Coronavirus: Alarm over the negative record in daily cases of coronavirus that occurred yesterday (10/09/2020) in Greece – 372 new cases

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a meeting today (11/09) in the morning with specialists in infectious diseases, where the new emergency measures to deal with the coronavirus.

According to information transmitted by Mega, the interest is mainly focused on whether the universal use of the mask will be decided. That is, that all citizens wear a mask, not only indoors but also on the street.

This strict measure may not apply across Greece, but in areas where the pandemic hits the red.

One of these areas is Attica where in recent days there is an increase in cases but also an increase in the number of intubated in the intensive care unit. But also in areas such as Kilkis, Pieria, Imathia and Pella that were declared under special restrictive measures due to coronavirus.

Scientists have reportedly clearly suggested to the government the mandatory use of the mask for some time to limit the spread of the virus.

The final decision will be made by the Prime Minister after weighing a number of factors.

At the same time, a further restriction of people to outdoor gatherings in Attica is being considered.

Negative record

Greece yesterday broke a negative record in daily cases of coronavirus, as EODY announced 372, of which 164 are known outbreaks and 114 are connected to the Pella food processing plant.

Twenty-nine are connected to a known confluence in a recycling industry in Attica and 21 come from several known confluences from earlier days.

Of the 372 new cases, 164 are associated with known outbreaks and 21 were detected after checks at the country’s gateways.

The total number of cases is 12,452, of which 55.5% are men.

2324 (18.7%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 5511 (44.3%) are related to an already known case.

49 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 70 years. 12 (24.5%) are women and the rest are men. 87.8% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 167 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 4 more deaths registered and 297 deaths in total in the country. 110 (37.0%) women and the rest men.

The mean age of our dying fellow citizens was 78 years and 96.3% had some underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.

Extraordinary restrictive measures in Pella, Pieria, Imathia and Kilkis

At the same time, after an extraordinary meeting held today at the Civil Protection Operations Center and taking into account the epidemiological data as it has been formed and with the results of yesterday in Π.Ε. Pella, Pieria, Imathia and Kilkis, by order of the Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, by decision of the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgiou and following the suggestion and consent of the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health, for urgent reasons serious risk to public health and, in particular, to limit the spread of the effects of the COVID-19 disease, the following restrictive measures were decided for the EP as follows:

  • Prohibition of operation of all health warehouses from 12 at night until 07.00 the next day.
  • Suspension of any type of event such as parties, fairs, processions, public markets, etc.
  • Prohibition of any type of meeting of citizens over 9 people for any reason, both in public and in private.
  • In the dining areas a maximum number of people at each table is allowed up to 4 people, unless they are first degree relatives where up to 6 people are allowed.
  • Mandatory use of a mask both outdoors and indoors.

It is noted that in consultation with the Ministry of Finance for the affected companies, the employment contract of the employees may be suspended.

Special units of the National Transparency Authority (EAD) and EL.AS go to the mentioned areas. for the intensification of controls and for the faithful implementation and supervision of the measures in their supervisory areas.

Finally, the above restrictive measures are valid for 14 days from Friday 09-11-2020 and from 06.00 to Friday 09-25-2020 and from 06.00.
