An alarm was sounded at EODY when cases were detected in a nursing home in Piraeus.
Since last Friday, 221 tests have been performed and diagnosed 16 positive cases in employees and the elderly.
It is unclear if the test was done prophylactically or if someone developed symptoms. The nursing home accommodates 170 seniors. On Monday, EODY is expected to give instructions, as the test results have not yet been completed and there may be other positive cases.
The commander of the National Transparency Authority, Angelos Binis, speaking to Star’s main newsletter, stressed that an investigation has already been launched for the Piraeus nursing home.
More than 20 cases in a nursing home in Ioannina
At the same time, a new outbreak was detected in a nursing home in Ioannina, as they were located 26 positive cases in a total of 55 guests. Four elderly people were transferred with severe symptoms to Preveza and Filippiada.
The 6th Health District has requested the intervention of a prosecutor for the specific nursing home.
